Ephesians 2:17 – Key Greek Words / Literal Translation
The Greek in the word “preached” is the word EUAGGELIZO. This is a compound word EU – Good, plus AGGEL – Angel, messenger. The middle voice means the subject participates in the action, and is normally benefited thereby. The indicative mood, the mood of reality, means that the “you” being preached to were truly blessed, really blessed, and were benefited by that blessing.
Ephesians 2:17 Discussion
There are 4 Greek words for Love (AGAPE, PHILOS, STORGE, and EROS (not found in New Testament)).
When we come to John 16, the words AGAPE and PHILOS are used.

But now in Christ Jesus, you the ones then becoming far off, became near by the blood of Christ.
Became near is the verb ginomai in the passive voice and indicative mood. The passive voice means that the subject receives the action of the verb; the indicative mood is the mood of reality. This is something that is a finished product, something done completely, totally finalized, nothing can be added to it or taken from it.
So, we as believers never have to be in wonderment about our status in salvation; it’s not based upon us, but upon our Lord Jesus Christ.
* God’s Word is the only source of knowledge of how to know and love the Lord Jesus Christ.
* Daily study leads to occupation with the Lord Jesus Christ.

"Adversity - Stress" – Lesson 79

Introduction (From this week's bulletin insert Adversity and Stress):
1. Adversity is the outside pressure of life. Stress is the inside pressure of the soul.
2. Adversity is what circumstances do to you. Stress is what you do to yourself.
3. Adversity is inevitable. Stress is optional.
4. Stress in the soul destroys the spiritual life of the believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.
a) Stress produces self-fragmentation and Christian degeneracy.
b) Stress results in inner tensions that cause disassociation, mental disorders, and
personality dysfunction.
c) Unchecked and perpetuated stress eventually results in psychosis in the believer.

Adversity and Stress Principles:
1. There is a definite negative relationship between stress and cognition.
2. Stress impairs your memory and makes you forgetful.
3. Stress, therefore, impairs the ability to learn.
4. Stress adversely affects one’s perception of reality.
5. When stress is removed, cognitive ability is restored.
6. If a person remains in a chronic state of stress, eventually all of their cognitive ability
will be destroyed and they will enter into a psychotic state.
Conclusions:

1) When the rate of learning exceeds the rate of forgetting, truth is established in the
soul.
2) When the rate of forgetting exceeds the rate of learning, eventually truth is erased.
3) When the rate of forgetting exceeds the rate of learning, then the outside pressure
of adversity is converted into the inside pressure of stress in the soul.
