1. ​Ephesians 2:11 – Greek / Literal Translation 
   Review: If our salvation could be by works, there would be something about which we could boast.  MANKIND CANNOT BE SAVED BY ANYTHING MAN CAN DO.  We are all imperfect and sinful.  Our works, thoughts and deeds are imperfect, but God is PERFECT.  Even though we are saved, many of us tend to bring false standards and concepts into the Christian life.  Such was the case for saved Jews who brought many false ideas concerning circumcision, addressed in verse 11.  Peritome is the Greek word meaning “cut around”, translated circumcision, presenting the concept whereby Christians are warned not to bring into the Christian life the false and superficial standards of the pre-salvation days.  As believers, we must study and know what the Word of God says, continually gaining the ability to properly use memory of these true concepts, in application to this life.

3. This hope in verse 12, or future expectation, is God’s plan for our salvation, victory in time and blessings in eternity.  This is the concept of hope 1, hope 2, and hope 3.
   This is a reference to the doctrines of positional sanctification, experiential sanctification, and ultimate sanctification.
