1. The Judgment Seat of Christ eliminates any need for any other human evaluation of your life. We are not to be judged by others or judge others. Leave that totally to the Lord. Romans 14:10 “But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you regard your bother with contempt? For we shall all stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ.” 2. The Judgment Seat of Christ is an evaluation of human effort (works of the flesh) and Divine good (works of the Spirit) II Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ, that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” 3. The Judgment Seat of Christ is a time of loss or gain of rewards. The day in court is in Resurrection body. I Corinthians 3:11-16 “For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man builds upon the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood hay, straw, each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it, because it is to be revealed with fire; and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work. If any man’s work, which he has built upon, it remains, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work is burned up, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, yet so as through fire. Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” 4. At the Judgment Seat of Christ the believer can be denied rewards but cannot lose salvation. II Timothy 2:12, 13. “If we endure, we shall also reign with Him; if we deny Him, He also will deny us; if we are faithless, He remains faithful; for He cannot deny Himself.” 5. People who have walked out of fellowship have no rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ as revealed in Hebrews 6:7-12. This is a loss in two ways: a. On earth, a proper relationship with Christ b. At the Judgment Seat of Christ, a loss of rewards 6. The Judgment Seat of Christ is beautifully illustrated as God’s Matchless Grace in action. James 2:12-13 “So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy, mercy triumphs over judgment. 7. Rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ are depicted by the ancient games. I Corinthians 9:24-17 “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. And everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we are imperishable. Therefore, I run in such a way as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; but I buffet my body and make it my slave, least possibly, after I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.” |
